Meet Mrs. Lou Anne Phillip-Herrera, the dedicated principal of Our Lady of Laventille Roman Catholic Primary School for the past seventeen years. Mrs. Herrera is deeply committed to her students success, guided by her belief that "every child has a place in this world and was born for a purpose."

As a lifelong resident of Laventille and a proud alumna of Nelson Street Girls RC Primary School, Bishop Anstey High School and Valsayn Teachers College, Mrs. Herrera's personal connection to her community fuels her passion for her students achievements. She lovingly refers to them as her "mini me's", recognizing their potential and nurturing their growth.

With professional qualifications including a certificate in education specializing in mathematics, a bachelor's degree in educational administration, and a masters degree in education focusing on youth guidance, Mrs. Herrera brings a wealth of expertise to her role as principal.

Outside of her duties at school, Mrs. H. is a devoted mother of three and an active member of her church community. She serves as choir mistress, youth leader, and lector, embodying her commitment to service and leadership.

In her leisure time, Mrs. Herrera enjoys a variety of activities, including cooking, Latin and ballroom dancing, aerobics, and indulging in diverse musical genres.

Reflecting on her time at Our Lady of Laventille RC Primary School, Mrs. Herrera fondly recalls a humorous incident during assembly in the schoolyard. Her Senior Teacher playfully pointed out her mismatched shoes, joking, "Miss, you know that is a sign of madness?"

Meet Miss. Blossom Hosein, an esteemed educator with 32 years of teaching experience. Blossom has taught across various levels, including first year, second year, standard one, standard two, and standard four. Her favorite subject to teach is reading, where she instills a love for literacy in her students.

Blossom is actively involved in various committees at Our Lady of Laventille, including literacy, sports, crisis, hospitality, and social. Outside of the classroom, she indulges in her hobbies and interests, which include art, playing the steel pan, storytelling, and golf.

Blossom finds great joy in teaching at Our Lady of Laventille because of its authentic atmosphere. She appreciates how the school actively promotes the culture of Trinidad and Tobago, especially considering Laventille's rich history as the birthplace of the steel pan.

Reflecting on her time in education, Blossom fondly recalls a humorous incident from her past. About ten years ago, while teaching at a boys school, she wore a wig to work. During a playful game of relay with the boys, the wig unexpectedly made its way onto the floor, eliciting hearty laughter from the students.

Meet Miss Peaches Commissiong, an experienced educator with 15 years of teaching under her belt. Peaches has taught across various levels, including second year, standard one, standard two, standard three, standard four, and standard five. Her favorite subjects to teach include creative writing, mathematics, phonics, and vocabulary.

Peaches actively contributes to the school community by serving on committees such as Crisis, Financial, Red Cross, and Social.

Outside of her teaching responsibilities, Peaches indulges in a variety of hobbies and interests, including balloon decorating, event decorating, braiding and weaving, and making preserves and confectionery.

Peaches finds fulfillment in teaching at Our Lady of Laventille because of the supportive atmosphere among staff members. She appreciates how everyone comes together for the greater good of the school, especially in times of need.

Reflecting on her time at the school, Peaches recalls a lighthearted moment during assembly when she was leading the "Hail Mary" prayer. Despite her experience, she had a momentary lapse and forgot the next part of the prayer. With the students watching in anticipation, Peaches had to humbly ask another teacher for assistance, attributing it to a 'senior moment'.

Meet Mrs. Sharnelle McLean-Pinto, a passionate educator with seven years of teaching experience. Sharnelle has taught various levels, including 1st year, 2nd year, Std. 4, and Std. 5, covering subjects such as reading, phonics, social studies, and science.

In addition to her teaching duties, Sharnelle actively contributes to the school community by serving on committees like Discipline and the School Based Intervention Team.

Outside of the classroom, Sharnelle enjoys a range of hobbies and interests, including swimming, hiking, walking, balloon decorating, Interior decorating, and cosmetology.

Sharnelle appreciates teaching at Our Lady of Laventille for it's proximity to her home and the close-knit, family-oriented environment among staff and students.

Reflecting on her time at the school, Sharnelle recalls a humorous incident when some male students brought an iguana to school during lunch hour, resulting in a priceless reaction from her colleague.

Meet Mrs. Beena Joseph-Sammy, a dedicated educator with four years of teaching experience. Mrs. Joseph-Sammy specializes in teaching Infants 2 and standard one, with a particular passion for Social Studies.

In addition to her teaching duties, Mrs. Joseph-Sammy actively serves on the Church Committee and takes on the role of first communion teacher. She also manages the Facebook page for school events and unofficially serves as the Master of Ceremonies.

Outside of her professional life, Mrs. Joseph-Sammy enjoys reading and indulging in True Crime movies and documentaries.

Mrs. Joseph-Sammy finds fulfillment in teaching at Our Lady of Laventille because she believes in making a difference in children's lives, particularly in this community.

Reflecting on her time at the school, Mrs. Joseph-Sammy fondly recalls a humorous moment when one of her students misunderstood a message. The student excitedly exclaimed, "Miss, Peter come!" Mrs. Joseph-Sammy, confused, asked where Peter was, only to realize that the student meant "pizza came for lunch."

Miss. Tiffany Chandler brings seven years of teaching experience across various levels, from 1st year to standard 5, at Our Lady of Laventille. Her passion lies in teaching mathematics and exploring the creative realm of arts and crafts with her students. Beyond the classroom, Tiffany actively contributes to school life by serving on committees dedicated to rewards and social activities. Her personal interests include indulging in reading, lifelong learning, and expressing herself through art. Tiffany cherishes her role at Our Lady of Laventille R.C. primary school , where she finds immense joy in nurturing meaningful connections and fostering a strong sense of belonging and camaraderie among students and colleagues alike. Amidst the daily routines, laughter pervades the school environment, making every moment memorable and delightful.
